The Legendary Master of The Strata-Caster
Bennie Smith
Bennie Smith, I truly believed  in him and his talent for he was truly one of a kind blues artist.  I had the pleasure of
knowing Bennie, not only as a friend but as one who tried  to let the world know about his extraordinary gifted talent.
Bennie was coined as being The Master of The Strata-Caster...and what he could do with the guitar....and the odd thing
about it all was if someone else played  his strata-caster it would never sound the same....so Bennie Smith can claim the
bragging rights as being one of a kind...

In October 2003, I presented a Mayoral Proclamation to Bennie Smith (the 1st  received)  I also presented him with a
"Resolution from the St. Louis Broad of Alderman  "the rewards were the 1st that Bennie ever received and they were  long
time in coming....they were given to him for his contribution to the music/blues heritage in St. Louis, MO".

Bennie Smith has played an important role in many lives, one of his accomplishment was tutoring  The legendary "Ike
Turner" along with many, many more....he has also performed with many known performers/singer such as "Tina
Turner" along with "Etta James"    and has performed on the same stage with the great "Gatemouth Brown" and
"Hubert Sulmin"    'Boo Boo Davis" and so many more...St. Louis is a close net family when it comes to the
music/blues/R&B/jazz and Bennie Smith played a Hugh role. Bennie  played along such greats as "Oliver Sain",
"Big George Brock ",  "Johnnie Johnson" , "Henry Townsend" and sooooo many more. He was a favorite among blues
jams, everybody wanted to jam with Bennie,  He  tour through out the world and was adored by his fans  no matter where
he travel.....Bennie Smith performed  to the end of his life...just the way he wanted it....may he rest in peace  and God bless
him...
Miss ya Bennie....
